You are ordering a This is Fine PRE-ORDER piece. You can choose a mug, tumbler, or spoon rest.
Please note, this item may not ship before June 2025. It may be even longer (I try my best to stay on track and on time, but I'm just one person). Creating these pieces is a process filled with planning, head down intention and endless excitement! I am truly excited to make every single one and I love imagining you receiving your piece, hopefully with a squeal (if you're prone to squealing with excitement as I am)!
When you buy a piece from Potter by the Sea you're investing in a one of a kind, hand-made, wheel thrown and hand carved piece of art - seriously from my heart to yours. I make pottery because I'm living my 'one day' now, and with you in real time.
My favourite message from my customers is that photos didn't do their mug justice and they're even more excited to see their new treasure in real life <3 This is much more than owning a mug, this is an original painting you can drink your coffee or tea from!!
Behind the scenes I spend a ton of time combing through inspiration online, considering which glaze colours and application would work best, kiln firing times for the effects I'm hoping for and a huge dose of trust in the universe goes into every single design - not to mention a prayer to the kiln goddess. My favourite part of the creation process is seeing if all those parts come together in the end, resulting in what I saw in my mind's eye. If you're reading this now, it worked! And I squealed!! hahaha
Okay, aside from the squealing (hopefully by both of us!), there are a few things you should know. Your mug/tumbler will be approximately 16oz, give or take an ounce or 2. Your piece is technically dishwasher and microwave safe (IF IT DOESN'T HAVE GOLD ON IT), but let's remember, this is not just a mug. This is a piece of art. To ensure your art stays as gorgeous as the day it arrived for years to come, I recommend handwashing and drying gently. Do not let your piece soak in dirty dish water, it will stain the bare ceramic over time.
The piece you receive will be made in the exact style you see here :) That said, every piece is handmade. Sometimes the kiln has a little extra snark and decides to throw in unexpected effects, colours are subtly different and size and shape may change a bit when being thrown on the wheel. Most importantly, like my work, I am always growing. My learning curve + specialization can alter your piece in small ways, reflecting improvement from collection to collection.
Thank you for joining me on the journey of following my art-heart!!
