No, but I offer local pickup.

My home studio is in Portugal Cove, Newfoundland. It isn't a public space - hopefully one day! All sales are online.

In your cart doesn't mean sold. Pieces sell quickly during restocks. set up an account beforehand + arrive on time for best chance.

  • How do I get a mug? Your shop is empty?

My work is made in batches, taking several weeks to complete and then released all at once. Restocks are announced on socials and via email- sign up!

  • Why Does Pottery Cost So Much?!

Each mug starts as a box of clay that travels 3,000 km over land and sea to my studio in eastern Newfoundland. The specialty equipment and supplies I've moved and ordered at great expense requires maintenance and replacement, always at increased expense (+ learning curve) due to my location. Not to mention research to choose what clay, glazes, tools and equiptment i want only to start the work of trail and error. The hands on time per piece starts by seperatin the two 20 lbs blocks of clay in the box, weighing and kneading each pieces before throwing it on the wheel. I usually throw 10-12 pieces per day, 3x a week max. At just the right amount of dry its cut off the bat it was thrown on and turned upside down to continue drying. The next day each mug is put back on the wheel to be trimmed and a foot shaped. Then a handle is pulled by hand and attached before covering the mug to dry again. once dry enough the mug is painted and carved then set aside and covered to finish drying. to get a batch of 60 to this point is about 3 weeks. Once completely dry, it is put in my 50 year old kiln with all its friends. This slow + steady firing process takes about 15 hours, the around 12 hours for the kiln to cool down enough that I can open it. Once open the pieces are unloaded and each is sanded by hand so that they are soft to tyhe touch. Hopefully no handles cracked! Now to glaze. Each is glazed differently depending on the order. once the glaze is complete and dry they are loaded back into the kiln (this takes a few days). This time they run for 16-18 hours at an even hotter temperature, then cooling for 12 hours. This entire process takes 6-8 weeks, so why doesit cost so much? Mostly it's because i'm not interested in the starving artist narrative and i know what my time is worth. So yes that mug is $200. Why? Just look at it!
